There is only one … The Bay House. And behind this gorgeous home are two lovely people: Stuart and Jacky Simmonds.
The story of how they found The Bay House is filled with synchronicity. Last year, Stuart and Jacky were house hunting in Kommetjie and drove past a For Sale house which piqued their interest, so they went in to have a look. They were swept away by the spectacular views this home offered. With a growing feeling of déja vu, the couple realised that they’d enjoyed a very festive New Year’s Eve in this very house in the 80’s. The fact that it was now 31st December, decades later, added to the feeling that this house was meant to be theirs.
Then followed a year of renovations and refurbishments, and they’re thrilled with what has been achieved. In typical self-deprecating fashion, Stuart says the only décor decision he was allowed to weigh in on was the selection of the large TV screen for the sumptuously cosy TV lounge.
Stuart is an English cricketer whose entertaining autobiography Watching With My Heroes, was published to great acclaim in 2017. On the bookshelf of The Bay House you’ll find Stuart’s series of children’s books, Hannah the Spanner. These are based on stories he told his two daughters, Hannah and Lucy, when they were small. He’d always promised to turn these tales into books one day, and this year, with the release of seven titles in the series, he’s been true to his word. Best of all, he presented his daughter Hannah, the series’ namesake, with the published books on her 21st birthday. She burst into tears when she opened the present.
Treat yourself to a luxurious getaway in this gorgeous holiday home, and – if you can tear your eyes away from the glorious views – set aside some time to read Stuart’s books. (click here)
